Dwight D. Eisenhower Coin
The Dwight D. Eisenhower $5 Commemorative Coin was issued by the Republic of the Marshall Islands in 1990 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Eisenhower's birth on October 14, 1890. This cupronickel coin is legal tender of the Marshall Islands, which was one of the key battlegrounds in the Allies' march across the Pacific during World War II. The obverse of the coin bears a commanding portrait of Eisenhower in his role as a 5-Star General, and reflects his strong leadership and firm commitment to the cause of freedom. The design was created by the internationally acclaimed sculptor and coin designer, Mico Kaufman, who has also created numerous award-winning medals and is known for his precision and attention to detail. On the reverse of the coin is the national seal of the Marshall Islands which appears on all its coinage. The motto, "Jepilpilin Ke Ejukaan," means "Accomplishment Through Joint Effort," and the design centers on the nation's symbol, the Spirit Bird of Peace. Varsity football was CBL champs with a perfect 10-0 season
As part of the perfect season, Ike beat Fontana for the first time since 1978. Fohi was riding a twenty-three game winning streak. Local press billed it as the high school game of the year. Eisenhower sold over 1200 tickets in less than two hours.

At the 1990 fall Southern California Educational Theater Association festival 7 Eisenhower students won Distinguished Acting Awards. Sandy Brunnel, Julie Capes, Angela Chamberlain, Deon Chatman, Wilson Echevarria (now known as Wilson Cruz and seen on Star Trek: Discovery), Rick Phillips, and Stacy Summerville.
The Academic Decathlon team finished in a three way tie for first place in the Super Quiz
Peer Counseling program grew from a few students to a class with over 20 certified peer counselors at the end of the first semester
Lots of rain in March caused the usual flooding when the drain between the Admin building and the H wing backed up creating a small lake
1991-1992 School Year
Varsity football repeated as CBL champs for the second year in a row, again with a perfect record of 10-0.
In addition, the team was ranked No. 2 in the nation by the Associated Press with USA Today placing them at No. 3. Television camera trucks became a common sight at games.
Once again, the Fohi game was touted as The Game of the Year. NBC, ABC, The San Bernardino Sun and various radio stations all were covering the game for the entire week before hand. Fans lined up early on Saturday to ensure the best seats. Fohi was handed its first shutout in 37 years as well as being beat for the second year in a row.
Unfortunately, dreams of a national title ended when Mater Dei beat Eisenhower 35-14 at the CIF finals. Still, this was the first football team in Eisenhower history to win the CBL two years in a row and make it to the CIF finals.

Freshmen were present as Eisenhower became a 4-year high school
Richard Stryjewski was elected President for the Southern Section and State Vice President of FBLA

Jaime Bastidas broke four course records in Cross Country and advanced to state finals
The Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program began. The purpose of this program was to keep the students involved in their studies and to improve their grades.

Eisenhower High School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School

1993-1994 School Year
Varsity Football returns as CBL champs and becomes CIF champs by soundly defeating Mater Dei 56-3. The Eagles were #1 in the CBL, CIF Southern Section, #2 in the USA Today, and #4 in the AP Prep.

Students came back in the fall with the lockers gone. Students had to carry their books in backpacks and learned to ask teachers whether they would need their books the next day so they wouldn't have so many books to carry.
1994-1995 School Year

Continuing the tradition of meeting with living presidents, 148 students and 12 staff members were present when President Bill Clinton came to San Bernardino Valley College
Joshua Dudley also had the chance to meet the President at the LAX and tour the presidential limo. A relative of his was a member of security at the airport.

Through federal funding, new computers, video and kitchen equipment were purchased for home economics
Students had a chance to earn a business certificate that verified they were prepared for an entry-level position in the business community
The infant care center was completed for the Pregnant Minor Program. This allowed teenage mothers to continue going to school without having to worry about their baby.

Computers began to be connected with fiber optics and internet use became a common means of communication. Students also produced cable news.
The Internet was the theme of the yearbook indicating the changes happening at Ike. Many of the layouts featured computers, CDs, and other pieces of new technology and the way it has affected everyday life.

Polynet was offered so students could earn college credit from Cal Poly Pomona. Students were connected via telephone and watched the professor on a specially connected monitor

Girls Varsity Basketball won the CBL championship and held the #1 spot all season. Lydia Afualo was offered several scholarships.

1997-1998 School Year
Band marches at the annual homecoming parade
The S and T Portables were added to the student lot to accommodate a population approaching 3,400 and to provide temporary classrooms while wings were being renovated throughout the school year. The T wing was removed eventually and the S wing was removed during 2024-2025 school year.
Students came back from summer vacation to face many changes as the Eisenhower campus embarked on modernization and renovation. Projects planned included: new light fixtures, upgraded windows, air conditioning, and computer access in every classroom. The $5.1 million project is estimated to be complete by 1999.
Readmits changed in that a student would have to clear absences the next day themself if their parents didn't. If they took class time to do so, they would receive a detention.
